The flame is contained in a center bowl or trough; the surrounding table surface stays around 100-130°F during operation — warm but not burn-hazard. Drinks placed on the table heat slightly. Don't place flammable items (paper, plastic) directly on the table during burn.

Most fire pit tables are 36-60 inches across, with the fire bowl 18-30 inches in the center. Surface space around the bowl runs 4-12 inches per side — enough for drinks, plates, or candles. Larger tables (72+) are available for entertaining.

Both. Gas-line versions install in a fixed location; propane versions store a tank inside the table base. Propane is the more popular choice because portability matters for outdoor entertaining and tank refills are widely available.

Most ship with a fitted weatherproof cover for the burner. Full-table covers (protecting the surface from rain and UV) are typically separate accessories at $80-$180. Covers extend the surface lifespan significantly.
