Use the smallest number. Measure the OPENING height at three points (left, center, right). Use the smallest number. Measure the FLAT SURFACE available around the opening on every side. The frame needs to seat against a flat area at least 1/2" wide on top, bottom, and both sides — wider for larger frame profiles. If you have a lintel bar: measure height to the bottom of the lintel only if the bar is FLUSH with the front face (within 1"). If it's recessed deeper than 1" inside, ignore it and measure to the top of the brick/stone. Round to the nearest 1/8" — our shop auto-trims 1/16" per side, so ±1/8" is forgiving. Installation tips for Overlap Fit doors Check the surrounding face is reasonably flat — within 1/8" across the frame footprint. Heavily uneven stone (stacked stone, rough flagstone) may not let the frame seat flush. In that case, install the frame first and bring veneer up to its edge for a clean finish. Existing factory doors come out first — measure the clean opening, not the opening with old hardware in place. Allow 14–21 business days for custom build. Premium finishes run 4–5 weeks.
