Wood-grain metal and cast concrete give a wood appearance without using a wood beam. Designs with real or composite wood inserts are different products, so look at the material of the model you choose.

Are all mantel shelves non-combustible?
Check the selected model and its inserts. Steel, concrete and glass options are available, but a wood-look surface does not by itself identify the material. Stoll notes that its transitional shelves can have combustible composite wood inserts.
How is wood-grain metal different from wood inserts?
Wood-grain metal has a wood appearance on a metal shelf. Real or composite wood inserts are a different construction and can be combustible. Check the exact product and finish selected.
What dimensions should I choose?
Compare the shelf length, height (thickness) and depth. Available standard and custom dimensions vary by product. Also check the proposed placement against your fireplace instructions before ordering.
How are floating mantels mounted?
The mounting system depends on the model. Check its instructions and the support available in your wall. Use the specified fasteners for the mounting surface and follow the product’s load limits.
What's the warranty on a mantel shelf?
ExceptionalFire covers steel and concrete mantels for 3 years on workmanship and 2 years on finish. Glass mantels have 1 year on workmanship and 2 years on hardware. Longer applicable manufacturer coverage also applies. Full warranty terms.
Can I put a TV above the fireplace?
Check both the fireplace and TV manufacturers’ requirements, including clearances and operating temperature limits. A mantel alone does not establish that a TV position is suitable. Ask your installer to assess the complete installation.
