Frequently asked questions
How long do custom fireplace doors take?
2-6 days for standard sizes (HearthCraft Grande/Medio, Stoll Columbia SZ). 14-21 business days for custom builds. 4-5 weeks for premium plated and handcrafted finishes (Avalon, Forged Iron, Burnished Bronze).
What's the price range?
Standard sizes start at $365. Custom builds range $865-$2,500+ depending on brand, size, finish, and glass options. Detailed pricing on each product page; live total in the configurator.
Are these glass or mesh doors?
Most are glass doors with optional mesh curtain inside (best of both worlds — see Glass vs Mesh). We also carry dedicated fireplace screens if you want mesh-only.
Will these fit my Heat-N-Glo / Majestic / Lennox prefab?
Yes — custom doors are sized to your specific opening regardless of manufacturer. Brookfield ZC Deluxe is purpose-built for prefab with louvers. Send a photo through the AI Expert for a fit confirmation.

Good to know
Questions people ask before they order
How do I know which fireplace door I need?
Start by identifying whether your fireplace is masonry (brick, stone, mortar joints) or prefab (a metal box with refractory panels bolted in). Masonry takes overlap-fit doors that cover the brick face; prefab needs an exact-match door for your make and model. Our photo tool identifies the type from a picture of your fireplace.
What is the difference between custom and standard-size doors?
Standard-size doors come in fixed sizes and ship in a few days. Custom doors are built to your exact opening, to the eighth of an inch, and run longer. Most masonry openings need custom, because they are rarely square.
How long does a fireplace door take to ship?
Quick-ship HearthCraft and Stoll Columbia doors leave the warehouse in 2–6 business days. Custom Stoll and Design Specialties doors run 14–21 business days. Premium Avalon, ForgeLine and plated finishes run 4–5 weeks. Freight and crating are included in the continental US.
Are fireplace doors covered under warranty?
Doors carry a 5-year workmanship warranty on the frame, 2 years on the finish and 2 years on hardware; glass and mesh carry 1 year. Breakage from impact and finish wear from abrasive cleaning are excluded. Full terms are on the warranty page.
Do glass doors save energy?
When the fireplace is cold, closed glass doors stop room air from being pulled up the chimney by the natural draft. During a burn, doors should stay open for radiant heat and to feed combustion air.
Can I install a fireplace door myself?
Every door ships with a hardware pack, instructions and a template. Masonry overlap doors need a hammer drill with a quarter-inch masonry bit; prefab doors anchor to the existing factory mounting points. Plan on 30–60 minutes. The installation guide walks through both fit types.
How do I measure my fireplace for glass doors?
Measure the opening width at the top, the middle and the bottom, and the height at the left, the centre and the right — to the nearest eighth of an inch with a steel tape. Use the smallest width and the smallest height for an inside fit, and note any lintel bar across the top. The measuring guide walks through it, and every custom order gets an Expert Fit Review by a person before anything is cut.
Should the glass be open or closed while the fire burns?
With a wood fire: glass open, mesh closed. Standard tempered glass is not rated for direct sustained flame. Close the glass once the fire has died down, and whenever the fireplace is idle, to stop the draft. Ceramic glass is the exception — the full answer is here.
What if I measure wrong?
You are covered two ways. Verify your measurements with us — a short video call, or photos with the tape in frame — and the fit is guaranteed: a wrong size on a verified order is our problem. If you measured on your own and a number turns out wrong, talk to us and we will work out a remake at our cost. Terms are on the Perfect Fit Guarantee page.
Do you make arched doors?
Yes. Arched doors are one of the things we are known for: measured by width, side height and centre peak, with a free template kit for full-arch curves, and built to your masonry opening in the USA.
