Four things to check before you order

1. Length

   Measure the span you want across the wall. Mark the ends with painter’s tape to see how they sit beside the firebox, stonework and furniture.

2. Depth & height

   Note how far the shelf should project and how tall its face should be. Check the selected model’s dimensions; custom sizes vary by product.

3. Fireplace clearance

   Use the exact fireplace and mantel installation instructions to confirm the mounting position. Non-combustible material does not establish a universal mounting distance. If a TV is planned above it, check the TV manufacturer’s heat limits too.

4. Wall & mounting

   Identify the wall material and the support behind it. Have your installer confirm the mounting method, fasteners and load requirements for the chosen mantel.
