Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as a "standard-size" fireplace?

Openings that match the most common builder dimensions: 36×26, 38×26, 40×26, 40×28, 42×28, 42×30. About 30% of US masonry fireplaces fall in this range, plus most prefab boxes. Anything outside these dimensions, or out-of-square by more than 1/2 inch, needs a custom build.

How do I know if my opening is "standard"?

Measure width and height at four points: top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right. If all four widths are within 1/4 inch of one of the standard sizes above, and all four heights are within 1/4 inch, you're standard. The measuring guide walks through it visually.

What's the price difference vs. custom?

Standard-size doors start at $865. Equivalent custom builds typically run $1,295-$1,800. The savings comes from inventory consolidation — we batch-build standard sizes weekly rather than building each to-order.

Can I get a standard-size door in any finish?

Standard sizes ship in the four highest-volume finishes (black, oil-rubbed bronze, antique brass, pewter). Premium and plated finishes require custom builds. The configurator will warn you if a finish forces a custom switch.

Do standard-size doors fit prefab fireplaces?

Some — but always verify your prefab make and model against our compatibility list. Lennox, Heatilator, Majestic, and Superior have model-specific dimensional requirements that don't always match generic standard sizes. Send your manufacturer plate photo via the contact page if you're uncertain.

How fast do standard-size doors ship?

2-6 business days. Same as quick-ship inventory. Continental US ground delivery adds 3-7 days depending on zip. Most orders arrive within 5-12 business days from purchase.
