Full-View Glass Fireplace Doors — Maximum Visibility
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between full-view and bi-fold doors?
Full-view doors use a single large glass panel per side (or a single panel total) for maximum unobstructed view of the fire. Bi-fold doors use 2-4 narrower glass panels that fold open to one side. Full-view shows more flame; bi-fold opens further out of the way during a burn.
Is the glass on full-view doors safer to break?
All our doors use tempered ceramic glass rated to 1,470°F. Full-view doors have larger glass panels, which means more area to potentially impact, but the glass itself is the same spec. Tempered glass shatters into safe pebble-like fragments rather than sharp shards.
Can I open a full-view door fully during a burn?
Yes — full-view doors are typically operable (they swing or slide open). Vented gas logs require open doors during burn. Wood fires perform best with doors closed for radiant transfer to the room and open during reload to feed combustion air.
Do full-view doors come in custom sizes?
Yes — most full-view styles in our catalog are custom-built to your opening. Allow 14-21 business days. The single large glass panel is fabricated per order. A handful of standard sizes ship in 3-5 business days.
Are full-view doors more expensive?
Slightly — typically 10-15% over equivalent bi-fold pricing because larger glass panels cost more to fabricate and ship safely. Full-view doors range $1,400-$3,500 depending on frame style, finish, and size.
Can I add mesh curtains to a full-view door?
Yes — most full-view doors include integrated mesh curtains that pull across the opening when the glass is open during a burn. The mesh contains sparks and embers without blocking the view as much as the glass would. Specify in the configurator.
